RIMC alumnus set to become next IAF Vice Chief
RIMC Latest News: Air Marshal SP Dharkar, an accomplished fighter pilot of Indian Air Force has been appointed as the next Vice Chief of Air Staff. Air Marshal Dharkar is an alumnus of prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun. He will be succeeding Air Marshal AP Singh, who has been designated as the next Chief of Air Staff. Dharkar will assume his new role after the new Chief takes over.
A seasoned pilot with over 3,600 hours of flying experience, SP Dharkar is an alumnus of prestigious institutions including Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun, National Defence Academy Pune, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Air War College in the USA.
Commissioned in June 1985, he holds qualifications as a Qualified Flying Instructor, Fighter Strike Leader, Instrument Rating Instructor & Examiner and has also served as an Air Force Examiner.
Throughout his career, Air Marshal Dharkar has commanded a frontline fighter squadron and a Fighter Flying Training Establishment. He has also contributed to professional military education, instructing medium and senior-level officers at the Defence Services Staff College and College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad.
He has held significant positions, including Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Training) at Air Headquarters and Air Defence Commander at Eastern Air Command. Notably, he was the first Director General of the Defence Space Agency. For the last two years, Dharkar has been heading Eastern Air Command.
