This time it is the launch of Delhi Model Virtual School ie DMVS, a one of its kind of full time Online school where in the entire education will be provided Free-of-Cost & virtually using latest ed-tech tools. It must be among the first initiatives coming from a state government that is attempting to rethink the idea of School education itself.
What is Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) ?
As soon as you land on the official portal of DMVS, you are greeted with:
Delhi Model Virtual School is a full time online regular school and not a part-time school.
It is a full-time school that is run in virtual mode. Entire instruction, lesson delivery, examination & extra co-curricular activities are done in virtual mode only. DMVS is affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) and its certification is valid at par with CBSE or any other recognised board in India.
Selected students for DMVS need to have a local address of Delhi which will be asked during document verification. For academic year 2025-26, admission is offered in class 9 & class 11.
Students studying in any Government, Government aided or recognised schools of Delhi and are residents of Delhi are eligible to apply for admission (having a valid residence proof).
What is right audience for Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) ?
Students preparing for competitive exams like NEET, IIT-JEE have to shell out hefty fees for regular schooling even when they are not keen to join lessons at normal schools as it hinders their competitive exam preparation. DMVS is ideal school for thousands of these students who goal is clear & set (in fact it will save them from forced compulsion by un-imaginative education system that is slow to respond to education requirements of this decade).

Is DMVS right school for you?
Since it is a pioneer program, parents have to be cautious about whether this kind of completely online schooling would work in case of their child. Covid has taught us that online learning works only for certain individuals who are intrinsically motivated & do not need outside force or structure to keep them on their toes. If your child is one of those who don’t need your constant presence to complete their home work, it might be a program which you need to explore further.
Also, there are certain social bonding attributes of a normal schooling experience which will be missing altogether at DMVS. But again, this program is not for every one. It is only for certain individuals in search for a specific online schooling experience.
