Vice President inaugurates Sainik School Gorakhpur
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in honourable presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath & other dignitaries inaugurated Sainik School Gorakhpur open for General public. In his address, Vice President Said Sainik School Gorakhpur will pave the way for development of future generations, set a benchmark for country to emulate. Newly established Sainik School Gorakhpur admitted its maiden 1st batch of students from academic year 2024-25.

Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of Sainik School Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, the Vice-President reminisced his own days as a student of Sainik School Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) and underlined the impact of his Alma Mater in shaping his personal and professional journey. “While my biological birth was at Kithana village, my real birth took place at Sainik School Chittorgarh.
Emphasising on the importance of education as an epicentre of transformative change, Shri Dhankhar highlighted the power of education in giving individuals greater control over their lives, and in decimating inequities and cutting across malpractices in society at large.
Expressing his appreciation at the establishment of the new Sainik School at Gorakhpur, the Vice-President shared his conviction that the school would pave the way for the development of future generations. “It will set a benchmark for other states, and for the entire country to emulate,” Shri Dhankhar elaborated.

Addressing the cadets, the Vice-President urged them to eliminate the fear of fear from their minds. Narrating how the success of Chandrayaan-3 was built on the lessons gleaned from Chandrayaan-2, Vice President Dhankhar said, “Failure is the foundation of success.”
During his visit to Sainik School in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar and Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar planted saplings in the memory of their late mothers, Smt. Kesari Devi and Smt. Bhagwati Devi at the premises of the newly inaugurated Sainik School Gorakhpur. They also inaugurated the shooting range on the premises.
CM Yogi expresses his hope of building a transformational institution
In his address Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Gorakhpur has been an important place since ancient times. It is not only the revered site of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, but also a global center for publishing Sanatan literature through Gita Press. During the first war of independence in 1857, Gorakhpur played a crucial role in challenging British rule under the leadership of Shaheed Bandhu Singh.”
CM Yogi informed audience that the Sainik School in Gorakhpur completed in just three years at a cost of Rs 176 crore will play a pivotal role in shaping future generations. The school, the first of its kind in eastern Uttar Pradesh, will offer Boarding school education for students from classes 6 to 12. He expressed confidence that this Sainik School will contribute to nation-building and the creation of a developed India by instilling a sense of duty and responsibility in its students.
The Chief Minister noted that the new Sainik School features separate campuses for boys and girls and includes an auditorium named after the country’s first CDS, General Bipin Rawat. Additionally, a multipurpose hall, Eklavya shooting range, and a swimming pool have been constructed in honor of martyr Captain Vikram Batra. He further described that the auditorium can accommodate 1,014 seats and includes facilities such as a yoga center for meditation, an indoor shooting range, a swimming pool, and a CSD canteen.
Residential houses in Sainik School Gorakhpur are named after historical figures such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Bandhu Singh, Shaheed Pt. Ram Prasad Bismil, & Veerangana Rani Laxmibai.
