Also UP Sainik School Lucknow took the initiative to be 1st Sainik School in country to admit girl cadets. On this decision, it was reported in leading newspapers that
“As many as 15 girls from different family backgrounds have got admission in the Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Uttar Pradesh Sainik School here in class 9 for the academic year 2018-19.”
UP Sainik School Lucknow & recently founded UP Sainik School Gorakhpur are currently operated under guidance of UP Sainik School Society.
Speaking on the occasion of announcement of NDA Selections, Col Rajesh Raghav, principal of UP Sainik School Lucknow said: Out of current batch of 15 girl cadets, 5 have made it in SSB qualifiers list. Another important metric to note is: Of the 27 female seats in NDA, five are bagged by girl cadets of UP Sainik School, comprising an impressive 18.5% of the total selection. Col Raghav also updated that the training of five girl cadets namely: Hansi Malik, Priyanka, Sanskriti Sharma, Vaishnavi Tripathi & Jyotsna Yadav will commence shortly at NDA Pune after further due process. It is a rare achievement as five girls and five boys of the Captain Manoj Pandey UP Sainik School have brought laurels to the institution. They were motivated to work on a plethora of areas, like, general knowledge, communication and reasoning skills and a thorough understanding of the selection mechanism,” he said.
