Latest News: After spearheading revolution in School education with launch of SOSE’s & AFPS Jharoda Kalan, it seems like Delhi Government is back to its rapid experimentation phase where in it might just succeed. This time it is the launch of Delhi Model Virtual School ie DMVS, a one of its kind of full time Online school where in the entire education will be provided Free-of-Cost & virtually using latest ed-tech tools. It must be among the first initiatives coming from a state government that is attempting to rethink the idea of School education itself.
Delhi Model Virtual School is a full time online regular school and not a part-time school.
It is a full-time school that is run in virtual mode. Entire instruction, lesson delivery, examination & extra co-curricular activities are done in virtual mode only. DMVS is affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) and its certification is valid at par with CBSE or any other recognised board in India.
Selected students for DMVS need to have a local address of Delhi which will be asked during document verification. For academic year 2025-26, admission is offered in class 9 & class 11.
Students studying in any Government, Government aided or recognised schools of Delhi and are residents of Delhi are eligible to apply for admission (having a valid residence proof).
What is right audience for Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) ?
Students preparing for competitive exams like NEET, IIT-JEE have to shell out hefty fees for regular schooling even when they are not keen to join lessons at normal schools as it hinders their competitive exam preparation. DMVS is ideal school for thousands of these students who goal is clear & set (in fact it will save them from forced compulsion by un-imaginative education system that is slow to respond to education requirements of this decade).
Also, wards of parents who are in transferrable jobs but would like to stick to one curriculum pattern that is innovative & follows pedagogy of 2025 would benefit from offerings of this kind of school among other audiences. Among other patrons, this program is supported by “Google for Education”. For complete list of FAQ’s, read here.
Is DMVS right school for you?
Since it is a pioneer program, parents have to be cautious about whether this kind of completely online schooling would work in case of their child. Covid has taught us that online learning works only for certain individuals who are intrinsically motivated & do not need outside force or structure to keep them on their toes. If your child is one of those who don’t need your constant presence to complete their home work, it might be a program which you need to explore further.
Also, there are certain social bonding attributes of a normal schooling experience which will be missing altogether at DMVS. But again, this program is not for every one. It is only for certain individuals in search for a specific online schooling experience.

Sainik School Latest News: Hailing from the cradle of Indian culture and civilisation -ie Haryana: the state which sends its brightest boys to serve motherland in Indian Armed Forces, Academy Cadet Adjutant (now lieutenant) Jatin Kumar arose from crisp rows & columns of brimming Gentleman Cadets who will soon take oath (in the name of god that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India) to serve India as commissioned officers in the parade ground of Indian Military Academy at Dehradun.
Soon in the presence of cheerful audience of thousands of well wishers, attending parents & serving officers of higher echelons from the Indian Army, Lieutenant Jatin Kumar would be honoured with Sword of Honour. The Sword of Honour: one of the highest distinctions awarded at IMA Dehradun symbolises excellence & leadership in its rigorous pre commission training.
IMA’s Autumn Passing Out Parade (POP) saw 491 cadets commission into their respective army units/corps, with 35 hailing from 13 friendly foreign countries. Lieutenant Jatin kumar and his 490 course-mates at IMA represent the diversity & aspiration of Indian Boys seeking careers which are arduous but fruitful. Every year lakhs of young men & women seek career in Indian Armed Forces but only a few hundreds make through the stringent selection process.
On Saturday 14 Dec; the passing out parade ceremony was reviewed by Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel celebrating not only individual accomplishments but also the strong military ties between India and Nepal.
As the Reviewing Officer, General Sigdel took a moment to advise the young officers: “The job ahead is not easy. You will face a future environment that is invariably multi-domain, multi-theatre and multi-sectoral. The challenges will be multi-pronged due to the emergence of disruptive technologies, but you can go forth with confidence because you have received the best training.”
Fulfilling legacy of Father
Lt Jatin Kumar hailing from Palwal in Haryana, has etched his name into the history books by winning the prestigious Sword of Honour at the Indian Military Academy. This remarkable achievement has fructified after years of preparation & training starting from his selection at Sainik School Kunjpura Karnal (Haryana) in the year 2013. Lt Jatin completed his schooling from prestigious Sainik School Kunjpura from 2013-20 before his selection at NDA Khadakwasla.
“Before selection I got rejected twice, but I never lost hope,” Jatin Kumar shared with pride, reflecting on his long journey to the academy. “My family has always been my strength and with their support, I am celebrating the most memorable day of my life. It was the dream of my father that I become an Army officer. Eleven years ago, when I was in Sainik School Kunjpura; I too dreamt of serving the nation and today that dream has come true.”
Lt Jatin Kumar’s father, a retired havildar who served in the Indian Army until 2018, instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and love for the nation. It was through his father’s dedication to service that Kumar was inspired to pursue a career in the armed forces.
Medal winners at IMA POP Dec 2024

Another notable achievement at the ceremony came from Mayank Dhyani from Pauri Garhwal, who earned the bronze medal. In an inspiring saga to familial legacy, Army Cadet Gurkirat Singh, who topped the arts stream overcame four consecutive rejections from the Services Selection Board (SSB) to fulfil his father’s dream of becoming an Army officer. Gurkirat’s father, a retired Lance Naik, had always envisioned his son donning an officer’s uniform. Speaking on Friday after the convocation ceremony, an elated Gurkirat said, “When you fulfil your parents’ dream, it’s a different level of happiness. Today, I am feeling that.”
Educated at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Mohali, Gurkirat drew inspiration from his father’s life. “Despite failing to clear the SSB thrice, my father believed in my abilities. His constant motivation enabled me to join the academy. Today, I am proud to stand here with him,” he added.
Legacy of Service
Army Cadet Yuvraj Singh Chauhan, who topped the science stream and was awarded the President’s Silver Medal, is the son of a serving Army officer in the Corps of Engineers. Naval Cadet Siddhant Jakhar, who topped the BTech stream, is the son of an Indian Air Force veteran. Educated at Air Force Bal Bharati School in New Delhi, Siddhant will complete his engineering training at the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala before commissioning into the Indian Navy.
“My father retired as a sergeant from the Air Force. Inspired by him, I aim to serve as an officer in the Indian Navy. It’s a proud moment for me and my parents,” Siddhant remarked. Reflecting on his time at the NDA, he added, “The journey has been eventful, full of highs and lows. The support from my coursemates through thick and thin has been invaluable.”
Army Cadet Shashi Shekhar Singh, who topped the computer science stream, comes from a family with humble beginnings. His father is a farmer, and his uncle serves with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. A former student of Sainik School Ghorakhal, Uttarakhand, Shashi credited his family and schoolmates for motivating him to join the NDA.
“It was a memorable journey at the academy, where I learned various military aspects during the training,” he said. His father, Chandrashekhar Singh, attending the NDA for the first time, expressed immense pride. “He has always been brilliant academically, but his dream was to join the Army. We supported his ambition, and today he has made us proud. Seeing his transformation at the academy is a joy,” he said. (NDA 147th POP)
Army life over IIT Degree
Army Cadet Ankit Chaudhary, recipient of the President’s Gold Medal and commander of the passing-out parade, made a pivotal decision to join the NDA over the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). Driven by gratitude for the Army’s care of his late father, who succumbed to liver cancer three years after retiring from army service, Ankit felt compelled to serve.
“I feel obligated to serve in the Army because it took care of my ailing father through the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS),” Ankit shared. Despite clearing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, he faced a scheduling conflict between the JEE Advanced exam and the SSB interview for the NDA.
“It was a career-defining moment. I listened to my inner feelings and sacrificed my IIT dream. Joining the academy to serve felt like the right choice,” he said. On being selected to command the parade, Ankit added, “It’s a significant honour I will cherish for a lifetime. I prepared thoroughly and was confident in leading the contingent.”
From Manipur to Military Honour
Cadet Jodha Thongam, the son of a school van driver from Manipur, was awarded the Bronze Medal. Receiving the honour from the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, during the passing-out parade, Jodha credited his father’s support. “My father backed my career ambitions wholeheartedly. Because of his encouragement, I was able to achieve this milestone,” he said. Jodha’s father, Rosoraj, attended the event with his wife and daughter, overwhelmed by pride and congratulatory messages from family and friends.
“He has made us extremely proud,” Rosoraj said. “The NDA has transformed him completely. Winning the Bronze Medal is a tremendous achievement. Everyone back home is celebrating his success. To be recognised as his father is the biggest honour.” Jodha completed his schooling at Sainik School Imphal before being selected for the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun.
